Skinny Bits: 8.15.2011

I thought I could refrain from discussing my dating life here, but I don’t see that working out too well. I’m too expressive and transparent to keep such a development out of my writing. At some point, I’ll have to find the delicate balance between sharing my life and retaining some privacy. Boys are too fun not to occasionally dish about them here.

About the movie Friends With Benefits: It. Was. Awesome. So awesome, in fact, that I saw it twice; once with the girls and then again with a boy. Justin Timberlake and Mila Kunis were electric as a pair of friends who decide to do what? Have no-strings-attached sex. It was a hilarious, witty take on romantic comedies that I will certainly purchase as soon as it’s available on DVD. Which says a lot, because I don’t like to buy anything that I can’t eat, wear, drink, listen to, or read.

SBG and S-E-X

On this day, nine years ago a 17 year old Skinny Black Girl lost her virginity. It wasn’t romantic or fun. Nor was it tawdry.  Looking back, it was too calculated to really be enjoyable. First boyfriend, first kiss and first boy I let round the first three bases of teenage sexuality. He’d heard every day since we hooked up that I would not lose my virginity until I turned eighteen. (Hence, the on and off part of our relationship.)

Have you ever paid attention to how men express their attitudes regarding women who have straight male friends? Or women who date multiple men? Or women with celebrity crushes? The general idea seems to be that if you’re in the presence of any man long enough, or hell, if he looks you in the eyes for more than two seconds, you’re going to get fcuked. No matter how unattracted to the man you might be, or how dedicated you are to your current relationship, or celibacy, there is no defense strong enough to deny a man who has put his intent and efforts on having sex with you. Your vagina is helpless against the schemes of men and where she purrs, you will follow.

Dumb It Down

Like everyone else on the Interwebs, I’ve been listening to Drake’s leaked album “Thank Me Later.” While I hadn’t been a fan of most of his post So Far Gone work, I did want to be objective and give his album a chance. I blocked out the hate and hype (which from my observations, seem to be the only reactions to Aubrey Graham) and approached “Thank Me Later” with a blank slate.

But this post isn’t a review of Drake’s album.

It’s about the one line from this album that has been stuck in my head for days.

Take them fcukin heels off…
