Tipping the Scale

I’m supposed to post everyday. I didn’t forget. I was just delayed by a trip to the emergency room. Don’t fret. If there was anything extreme or life-threatening going down, I would not be sitting with my feet propped up and this Blackberry in my hands, typing away. I’d be under a table crying or balled up in the fetal position. Some people power through pain and sickness. I become a five year old.

But I’m dedicated to keeping my promise. And my new definition of “fly” that includes consistency (Much love to Tacita for her comment on yesterday’s post. She made my day.). So I’m going to write this post. Here goes.

Skinny Bits 11.19.08

Nov 19 2008 Published by under Uncategorized

Thanks to a certain germ-carrying Negro, a chick was on the sick and shut in list yesterday. I know in relationships that sharing is good, but he could’ve kept this cold to himself. Anywhoo, spent yesterday at the crib, coughing, sneezing, and blowing my nose with CJ.

Haven’t gone political in a minute, and that’s on purpose. But, just wanted to hit y’all with my opinion on some of the current issues:

  • Not digging all of the leaks in the Obama Administration. After the way his campaign operated, I was expecting a lot more discipline. But I guess he’s got the top spot now, so he’s a little more comfortable and letting some things go. Don’t get too comfy, though B.
  • Hillary as Secretary of State. Yes. Keep that heifer where you can see her. Everyone keeps saying how Hill shouldn’t be trusted, but keep in mind that she’s smart above anything else. If she gets the job, ole girl is going to do it well. There’s no point in trying to add that position to your resume if you’re going to underperform. But I know she’s about ready to slap Bill. He’s like the Gift and the Curse in her life. She gets the advantage of his popularity but the disadvantage of his baggage and BS.
  • All the Clinton folks in the Administration. At the end of the day, the change agent is Barack. And he’ll get stuff done a whole lot quicker if he and his staff aren’t learning on the job at the same time. Besides, they’re executers of the Obama agenda. They don’t set the agenda themselves. Barack is no W. He’s got a mind of his own.
  • And why the hell is Al-Qaeda calling Barack a “House Negro?” LMAO. I kid you not.
  • On a Detroit Bailout. I’m really glad that I’m not a politician because that ish right there is a toss up. There are 3 million jobs at stake if you let GM go into bankruptcy. Tax payers are going to either get stuck paying their unemployment benefits or stuck with the cost to restructure the auto industry. There’s no “good” answer here.
  • The Republican party is off the chain! I think those Fiscal Conservatives and the Religious Right are about to have it out, for real. You see Mike Huckabee and Mitt Romney are already exchanging words. If the GOP knows what’s good for them, they’ll tell those religious fanatics to kick rocks and start focusing on issues that pertain to the real everyday lives of a more diverse group of Americans. Leave the values questions to Jesus and get back to common sense governing, minus the ideology. Personally, I’ve got my eye on the Louisianna governor Bobby Jindal. Just watch.
  • Is it just me or is W. looking more Presidential these days? He’s probably just trying to get through these last few months as smoothly as possible. After seeing the Oliver Stone movie based on his life, I actually don’t hate him as much. I’ll be happy to see him peacefully chillin on his ranch in Crawford, TX.

“Family” members are such a trip. Seriously. I’m so blessed that I’ve been able to build a real support system of close friends because if I honestly had to depend on my blood relatives for any kind of emotional support, I’d end up right back in the psych ward. Seriously.

Furthermore, it’s still so funny to me when people don’t quite “get” why I’m so open in my blog. It’s really quite simple. This is me. And I’d rather lay that on the table and give people the option to love it or leave it rather than hide and have to constantly worry about whether or not people will accept me for me. Thus far, pouring my heart out has not done me any disservice. I see no reason to stop.

OH! Can’t believe I forgot to tell you that I did go back to my relaxer over the weekend. Praise God!! I’m now rocking a very cute layered bob. Pics to come soon.

Damn, I want some Cheetos. Lol. Ummm. That’s all for now. I gotta head down to the vending machine at the office!
