Intervention
Confession: I, Skinny Black Girl, am horrible with money.
I’m writing this today as a self-intervention. Because I’ve always been terrible with money, always had some desire in the back of my mind to change that, but that desire was never larger or louder than my desire to enjoy life. And by enjoy life, I mean impulsively spend money in bars and restaurants and expand my wardrobe. I have spurts, where curbed spending and saving become a priority and I manage to stock away a respectable amount of money in my savings. Then, for whatever reason, I stick my hand in the cookie jar just once and next thing I know I can’t keep my damn hand out of the thing.
